Member Experience Summary: Transitioning to Chattanooga Federal Employees Credit Union

Debit Cards

  • Existing BCBSTECU debit cards continue working throughout the transition period before conversion.

  • Chattanooga Federal debit cards are mailed approximately one month before conversion.

  • Members should not activate or use the new cards until instructed.

  • On conversion day, the old BCBSTECU cards are disabled, and Chattanooga Federal cards become the active cards.

Home Banking

  • Members continue using the BCBSTECU Sharetec Online Banking system through September 30.

  • Online Banking is unavailable during the conversion window while data is transferred.

  • Beginning October 1, members log into Chattanooga Federal’s Online Banking.

  • Temporary credentials:

    • Username: Account Number

    • Password: Last four digits of Social Security Number

  • Members are required to change their password upon first login and have the option to change their username.

Checks

  • Existing BCBSTECU checks remain valid before conversion.

  • Outstanding BCBSTECU checks continue to clear after conversion.

  • Chattanooga Federal will order a couple dozen checks for members who write checks.

  • Automatic payments and direct deposits continue without interruption unless otherwise communicated.

Date Debit Cards Home Banking Checks
July 1, 2026 Existing BCBSTECU debit cards continue to work normally. Continue using existing BCBSTECU Sharetec Online Banking. Continue using existing BCBSTECU checks.
July – August 2026 Existing BCBSTECU issued debit cards remain active. Continue using Sharetec Online Banking and Mobile App. Existing checks remain valid.
Early September 2026 New debit cards issued by Chattanooga Federal are mailed to members approximately 30 days before conversion. Members should keep the new cards but do not begin using them yet. Members receive instructions for new Chattanooga Federal Online Banking, including temporary login credentials. Members receive instructions for ordering Chattanooga Federal checks after conversion.
Late September 2026 Members are reminded of the card activation date and the date their old cards will stop working. Members receive reminders regarding the online banking outage and first login instructions. Members are reminded to begin transitioning to Chattanooga Federal checks after conversion.
September 30, 2026 (Close of Business) Existing BCBSTECU debit cards will not work after September 30. New Chattanooga Federal cards will begin working at 12:00 a.m., October 1. Sharetec Online Banking, Audio Response, and other electronic services are taken offline at 4:00 p.m. Existing checks continue to clear through the conversion process.
October 1, 2026 (Conversion Day) Chattanooga Federal activates members' new debit cards. Former BCBSTECU cards are no longer used after activation. Members begin using Chattanooga Federal Online Banking. Initial username is their account number, with a temporary password of the last four digits of their Social Security Number, followed by a required password change. Outstanding BCBSTECU checks will continue to clear. Any remaining unwritten BCBSTECU checks should be shredded and members begin using new Chattanooga Federal checks.
October 2026 Members activate new debit cards if they have not already done so. Members become familiar with Chattanooga Federal's Online Banking and Mobile App. Members begin using issued by Chattanooga Federal.
Following Months Replacement cards issued as normal through Chattanooga Federal. Members fully transition to Chattanooga Federal digital services. Members continue to write checks issued by Chattanooga Federal.
